Biomass

Commonly, the term biomass is used for every organic matter generated by plants, animals and humans. In energy management this scope is reduced to the ones which are valuable for energy production.

Energy doesn‘t only occur as electricity but also in the shape of thermal energy. As already mentioned in the project description, the project's goal is to develop a system that produces electricity, heat and cold as efficient as possible.

As feed stock for such energy production renewable and fossil sources can be used. Biomass counts as a renewable energy source and is provided by forestry, agriculture and waste management industry. It can be differentiated between solid, liquid and gaseous biomass.

Biomass looms large in the frames of biodiversity, climate crisis and techno-economic aspects of energy production.
